Gimme Shelter

CNN ran today some clips on the Rolling Stones-SARS benefit thingie outside of Toronto.

The sound was off, but the subhead title (or whatever you call it) said that the concert was being broadcast to American and Canadian troops in Iraq.

I might have missed it. I only read two newspapers a day, two hundred others on the Internet, and the only things I watch on TV are sports and the news. But I thought that we made a lot of noise -- a lot of sanctimonious, insulting noise -- about not participating in moron bastard Yankee quagmires.

Actually we did have troops in the war, 14 or 15 officers and techs seconded to U.S. or British units: standard NATO exchange programmes.

Not much, but it still eclipsed the Italian or Spanish contribution by, say, 14 or 15 officers and techs.

Just so that you moron bastard Yanks know that we're pulling our weight, sort of.
