Musician (and sanctimonious lefty blögger) Matthew Good is releasing a greatest hits compilation, titled In A Coma 1995-2005. Sometimes the jokes just write themselves, y'know?
I had thought that having actual hits was sort of a prerequisite for that sort of thing, but to each his own. I can think of maybe two songs of his that I've heard, and neither one registered strongly enough that I can recall the melody. Check out the innavigable promo page for it here.

Matthew Good, whose album (note dated terminology) I once bought, basically called me a "troll" over at ProgressiveBloggers the other day. I didn't and won't respond to it, other than to say "Cool!"; I'll just go about doing my blog thing and let young Matthew do his and let the chips fall where they may.
After glancing at his blog for the past couple of months I am, however, left with one question: does this guy even live in Canada? Because all he ever blogs about is Bushitler and America, which would be fine and all, if we didn't have such a shitty Liberal government right here in Canada.

Have to have hits?
In his career he's had over 15 top ten singles in Canada and sold 900,000 records which in the us would equal 9 million. The song you quoted - hello time bomb - was #1. He also has had 5 #1 videos, been nominated for 14 junos, won 4, and something like 7 much music awards.
Who are you again?

John:
He's not selling in the US, and thus his animosity for all things American. If any Canadian band should have a greatest hits comp, it's the Hip, who sell about 800,000 to mill on almost *every* album..most of those are sold in Canada only.
Good has dissed Nickelback several times because of their success in the US.... Not that I'm a NB fan, because I think they suck equally as bad as Matt. But at least Nickelback, for one, didn't have to depend on content rules in Canada to make a living.
Those VMA's and Junos are BS awards, as you are probably aware, and for a time in the nineties he was only one of a limited number of "decent" rock acts.
Do you remember when "Mr. Metro", Mitsu, and the teen pop sensation Alanis dominated MM? Matt should have been cleaning up. What about the late nineties? What were the Canadian male group rock acts he competed against? The Hip, yes, but OLP? Econoline Crush? Tea Party? Big Wreck? Sloan? Treble Charger/Limblifter? Other than TC/Limb, Good is probably the crappiest of all of them. Probably the timing of albums had more to do with his success or failure since there was no depth of talent.....today, there's an even a weaker field.

The last Hip record didn't go platinum. The last three have sold less than 110,000 copies actually. I wouldn't talk like you know what you're talking about when you don't. But they have a greatest hist coming out in October - just so you know.
Beyond that you know nothing about Matt Good obviousy. He didn't attack Nickleback, he just said all those bands sound the same and their lead singer acted like a baby about it. Nickelback used to open for Matt and Chad Kroeger worshipped him.
For a nobody he's played with a lot of other nobody's - like THE WHO, Pearl Jam, and a long list of others.
Say what you want, the guys a total success. He sells out shows wherever he plays, even in the US (he plays in New York in october) and is probablyway smarter than you are too.
You just sound bitter and petty, just like the guy who wrote this post does. You'd probably trade places with Matt Good in a heart beat if you had the chance.

"In the early 1990s the Hip became a Canadian album sales powerhouse. The last seven Tragically Hip albums have all debuted at #1 in Canada, starting with Day for Night (1994), Trouble at the Henhouse (1996), Live Between Us (1997), Phantom Power (1998), Music @ Work (2000), In Violet Light (2002) and In Between Evolution (2004). Combined, the Hip have sold over six million records."
Last time I counted they had about 11 albums, but we'll round them out at about 600,000/album. What's Matt's count again? I didn't say he was a nobody, but he's not close to being a bigger or better artist than 90% of the top Canadian acts out there. He as derivative as TOADM or Default/Nickelback and does most of his trade in Radiohead politics for idiots and anti-americanism. Lame and played out.
"He didn't attack Nickleback?" Kroeger went on Leno and specifically mentioned what an idiot Good was for slagging him the press: "In the November issue of Chart Matt Good took aim at Nickelback, accusing them of being little more than a carbon copy of Creed or Staind"
That's a diss....And it's completely hilarious since Matt has ripped lyrics off of the Hip left and right.....and he got his start ripping off grunge style years after Cobain was dead in the ground.
I admit it, I'm jealous...yeah okay. I want to be a washed up, 90 pound, talentless and poor Canadian rock star...If only!
And I'm not jealous of talented and rich rock stars because.....?
How old are you? 14?
PS: Tomorrow in homeroom, you might want to look up the word bitter. Oh and if I *sound* like the first guy who posted, it's because if you could read you would notice I *was* the first guy who posted.
