The Three Horsemen Of The Apocalypse

Full Comment:

The challenges facing government during the next several years are immense. The Liberals must indeed be power hungry (or believe it is their natural right to be the governing party) if they want so badly to be bring back deficit spending NDP style. It is a measure of their colossal gall after they have been so clearly repudiated by the Canadian people to seek to foist the inherent instability of their inconvenient marriage on the country.

They've got Pestilence, War and Death covered; rumor has it that Lizzie May might yet capture the Famine slot.

Deliverance

Memory Is A Fragile And Flickering Thing

But the Internet never forgets.

National Post:

I have never liked that emblematic slogan of the Clinton War Room, "It's the economy, stupid." I have a visceral dislike for calling anyone "stupid." (No doubt something to do with having a mother who believed in lady-like behaviour.)

Paul McKeever:

May speaks quickly in the clip, and some (including May) assert that what she really said was not "I think" but "they think," as in:

"All the other politicians are scared-to-death to mention the word ‘tax’, and they think Canadians are stupid and cannot - and I fundamentally agree with that assessment - but most politicians think that if you say that ‘we’re going to put on a carbon tax, and reduce your income tax, they don’t think they can sell it. It’s all about votes.

. . . whether she said "I think" or "they think" matters little, because she followed up the "stupid" assessment with the words "and I fundamentally agree with that assessment." Or, at least that is how its sounds to people who trust their senses and their intelligence.

Spider Pig!
Spider Pig!
Does whatever a spider pig does!
can he swing from a web?
No he can't
He's a pig!
Lookout!
Here comes the spider pig!

Name That Pundit

National Review:

If American newspapering had any wit left in it, some wag of an editor would launch a sidebar called "Unwelcome Distractions." Instead, give 'em another month or three and Obama may be the first president able to hold singalong press conferences.

Worst Santa Ever

worst-santa-ever

Even by the low standards of do-it-yourself Santas, this is pathetic. He looks like something bolted together from scraps they found in the Wal-Mart dumpster; tragically, though, the electric shocks failed to bring it to life.

Because Of Overwhelming Public Demand

Well, not actually. But since I have received no emails, telegrams or death threats otherwise, I must assume an enormous hunger for my unsentimental Santa pictures. Sort of like that "negative option billing" the cable companies were experimenting with a few years ago.

Manger Danger

nativityfigures
To complete my Christmas triptych of lameness, I offer these nativity scenes. I would have thought that Obama was a lock to play the baby Jesus, but what do I know?

Mary's Boy Child

Harry Belafonte is still a raging moonbat, but IMO this is one of the prettiest Christmas songs ever recorded. I was curious, so I looked it up on Wikipedia.

Long time ago in Bethlehem
So the Holy Bible say
Mary's boy child, Jesus Christ
Was born on Christmas day.

Hark, now hear the angels sing
A new King born today
And man will live forever more
Because of Christmas day.

While shepherds watched their flock by night
And see a bright new shining star
And hear a choir sing
The music seem to come from afar.

Now Joseph and his wife Mary
Come to Bethlehem that night
They found no place to bear her child
Not a single room was in sight.

Hark, now hear the angels sing
A new King born today
And man will live forever more
Because of Christmas day.

By and by they find a little nook
In a stable all forlorn
And in a manger cold and dark
Mary's little boy was born.

Hark, now hear the angels sing
A new King born today
And man will live forever more
Because of Christmas day.

I've got places to go and people to see over the next few days. So I'll wish you all a Merry Christmas and I'll see you in the (Happy?) New Year.
