Polish Them Halloween Apples, Kids

National Post:

Children wanting to wear scary, violent or blood-drenched costumes will have to trade them in for more caring and community-friendly outfits at two public elementary schools this Halloween.

The principal of Colonel Walker and Ramsay schools said her staff has chosen to use the day normally known for scares and frights as an opportunity to teach community values.

[ . . . ]

Michelle Speight, who serves as principal for both inner city schools, said the move is designed to accommodate all children, including those with cultural backgrounds that don’t celebrate Halloween. It’s also an attempt by staff to prevent students from wearing costumes inappropriate for young children.

“You can still be creative, in fact we encourage that, think of all the things you can be in a non-violent way,” said Speight. “Ones that exemplify caring for other people and be respectful of other people.”

And what exemplifies "caring and respect" more than the . . . SOCIAL WORKER! Wouldn't that creep you out on your porch? Add orthopedic Birkenstocks, and behold, the . . . LESBIAN SOCIAL WORKER!!! Flee, men, flee!

How about those "Occupy" zombies! They care so very very much! Hear their haunting chant: "Braainsss!" Which they don't seem to have a lot of. (Or possibly "Weeeedddd!")

Or if you really want to strike terror into the hearts of all . . . the Michelle Speight bureaucrat from hell! Aaiiieee!

It is another way to take childhood out of life.
I was one of the wimpyest children I know and I still enjoyed being scared at halloween. Monsters under the bed were taboo but monsters on the street were all someone I knew. It was fun.
Can't even be cow boys and indians any more because it insults natives.
What child of 5 actually thinks PC when putting on a costume?
Maybe they could go as a mobile phone, oops sorry some children don't have one and might be reminded of the fact so that is a no go area.
Maybe a christmas tree or ornament that would be nice and colourful.
Oops wrong again not everyone believes in celebrating christmas.
Are we going to ban ghost stories around the campfires in National parks.
Next Peter Pan will be banned because because Tinker Bell was hurt and the pirates are scary.
Children love that bit of safe scary. They know that mom or dad are within reach if they are needed so it is kind of exciting for them to ring the doorbell at a house that is really spooky with the little light left on to welcome them. It should be left as a part of their life.
I think it is time for parents to step back and let some of childhood be left for the children.
They deserve to have some Politically incorrect fun. Adulthood is the time if there really is a time for conforming to every little rule made by so many different groups.
Schools are taking the fun out of childhood and we are becoming a country of rules and regulations that are just down right stupid.
1 person says it upsets them so the rest of us have to accomodate that person. WHY?
If I don't want to see hear or attend because I don't care for it I do not have the right to tell my neighbours they aren't allowed to go either.
It is time for us to stand up and speak out.
I do not worship a god but I still celebrate christmas as a day for children. I love Santa Claus because he is a symbol of love for Children.
But christmas is banned. When will decorations and the bright lights be banned from our homes. It seems only a matter of time.
Can't celebrate christian holidays, now we can't celebrate pagan holidays.
What is next, you have to form church groups in the basement in the dark.
Leave children alone and let them enjoy life they are adults too soon anyway.

I like the idea of dressing them up as social workers, blue shirt, khaki pants, and zombie makeup.

Then make sure they wander around saying "I'm from the government and I'm here to help"
