Styles isn't using your average rifle for his target-shooting. Instead, his firearms collection contains modern, sleek, semi-automatic rifles, which he says are light, accurate, durable and pleasing to shoot. One of his preferred weapons is the Chinese-made M14 semi-automatic rifle. For years, it served as the standard-issue battle rifle for American soldiers and is now used by sharpshooters in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The M14, along with a range of much more modern rifles of military origin, is entirely legal to own in Canada, even if you're not in the military.
Some Canadians are alarmed that registered firearms users such as Styles have legal access to such weapons, which are considered "civilianized" models of modern military-assault rifles. Although these high-powered rifles are seldom used in crimes in Canada, many gun-control advocates want them banned in the name of public safety.
Meanwhile, many owners of these sophisticated weapons fear even if their firearms aren't banned, police may reclassify them as "prohibited" - a step close to a ban - then show up at their homes and seize their favourite toys.

You know what's really funny about that "Guide to firearms" picture. All of the machine guns and assault rifles are labelled AK-47 except the AK-47 which is labelled M-16. Oh and none of the glocks are actually glocks but the one glock is labelled an AK-47.

I'd bet most "journalists" don't even know as much about firearms as that list demonstrates.
The AP once sent a story down about a killing and the weapon was described as an "automatic revolver". I asked the anchor if he really wanted to go along with that since the chances that the weapon in question was a Webley were about zero. The response was "we have to go with what they say at the wires until they change it".
They did of course, about 5 minutes after our newscast, turned out to be a Smith Model 57 .41Mag. (I found the exact specifics out much later).
Only place I've ever seen a Webley semi auto revolver was in the opening moments of "Zardoz"

One thing more, I guess I'm showing my age when I remember the official nomenclature for guns not being "AK-47" and "Glock" but rather "Uzi" and "Saturday Night Special"
